About Sarah

My passion for art started when I was a little girl. After a visit to the Cleveland Museum of Art with my mom, I joined a drawing class that happened to be going on that day. I instantly found an appreciation of shadows and light and how art can make us feel something. I also learned that I could capture simple moments in time with my art. I went on to draw everything around me — pets, cousins, a tube of lipstick, my favorite pair of shoes.

That inspiration eventually led me to pursue painting, first with acrylics and then with oil. I later added soft pastels to my list of favorite mediums. I learned that people and nature are my favorite subjects. I typically use pencil for my most detailed drawings of people. My nature scenes are usually done in oil or soft pastel.

I currently live in Charlotte, NC with my husband, Jimmy, our four kids (two sets of twins!) and our Labradoodle, Mick. When I’m not in the studio, I’m scheming how to get back to Kiawah Island, SC, where our family loves to vacation. I grew up in South Carolina and the South Carolina coast has always been a source of peace and inspiration for me.
